Article: GDP is outdated and overrated

In an article on Nature.com, several authors come together to explain why GDP is no longer a useful tool and to put forth alternatives. As the authors point out, there are many economic, social, and environmental factors that GDP omits. Addressing this, there are several newer measures that better represent societal well-being and progress. This topic seems to be especially relevant given the ever-widening social inequality in California, the U.S., and around the globe.
